Parachilna Pub Pings
Unfortunately, despite my careful driving, the trip to Nuccaleena Mine staked one of the tyres on the Touareg. Fortunately it was only a slow leak as we didn’t Notice until the next afternoon when the tyre was completely flat.
Good thing I Had got a separate spare that was on the back of the van. The Touareg only carries a funny temporary spare that you have to inflate. We took the punctured tyre to Angorichina Village where they do tyre repairs and continued on to Parachilna Pub for lunch.
About 5kms out from the Pub our phones started to ping. We had mobile reception. Emily was super excited as she was suffering withdrawal symptoms from lack of internet.
The Pub’s specialty is outback fare. You can have your choice of Kangaroo, Emu, Camel or Goat burgers. There was Skippy schnitzels, saltbush dukkah, bush tomato relish, etc. The food was great. I had a goat burger. Mum skipped mains and went for a Quandong pie with ice cream. Nina and Emily skipped the roadkill and settled for chicken. They also had on tap a beer brewed with mango and passion fruit that was really refreshing on a hot dusty day.
So with Emily still trying to download as much as she could we headed back to Alpana.
Oh God, point me at a skippy burger now, I had a quandong pie at Blinman it was lovely.
I think you’ve done extremely well to get away with just one puncture though but I’m sure the get-you-home spare would be fine on an outback road.
