Moonta Miners Cottage
It was a bit of a cold and drizzly Sunday here at Wallaroo so we took mum for a bit of a drive to Moonta. The area is known as the Copper Triangle with Copper mines at Moonta and Kadina and a smelter at Wallaroo.
We stopped at the National Trust Miners cottage at Moonta. It had been owned by the same family since it was built in the 1860’s and was sold to the National Trust after the 99 year lease expired. Unfortunately we couldn’t get mums wheelchair in through the tiny doors.
Instead we walked mum through the little cottage that was home to the parents and 13 children. We had a fantastic guided tour with mum walking gingerly from one room to the next being helped along by Nina and Me. She absolutely loved it but was pretty whacked by the end of it.
Lost you for a few days but now have caught up and have enjoyed the latest doings. Hope all is a little less stressful than earlier. Sitting on the river bank at Morgan could have soothed the frayed nerves. I love the river. Please pass my love on to all the family and keep your sense of humour.
