Beaufort Town

Our first stop on the trip was Beaufort. Why Beaufort I here you ask. Well I just love the town. It has two of my favourite buildings and they are right next to each other.

Beaufort Motors now houses the Skinny Sisters Cafe where we had a lovely lunch and the Beaufort Garage is one of those wonderful junky country antique stores.

Our first night was cold and wet and there was much grumbling by all so we needed to invest in a small fan heater to keep mum warm at night.

Beaufort is only a couple of hours drive from home so if we needed to do anything it was only a short trip. And guess what we needed a few things we had left at home. The wheelchair proved a bit too big to easily manoeuvre around the van so I did a quick trip back to our house to pick up mums small wheely chair and a few bits and pieces for the van.

Next day was a stop at one of Dads favourite wineries Michael Unwin who do a sensational Muscat. It is rich syrupy with a nice little burn in the throat. As Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum would say ‘do yourself a favour’ and wrap your laughing gear around some.

Mmmmm Muscat

Mum, unsurprisingly, has been quite unsettled so what normally calms her is a bit of a trip in the car through the bush. So we did a trip through Mount Buangor State Park. There are some lovely drives through there and you get to see all sorts of things including Dinosaurs in paddocks. Yes you heard right dinosaurs life size realistic looking dinosaurs. Well that amused mum no end.

It was then back to the van for another night of cold and wet ?.
